Reiki and Bio-Energy healing are both forms of energy healing which support the body’s natural ability to heal, reduce stress and restore balance. Both modalities recognise that when our life force energy flows as it should, then our body can heal itself, as it was designed to do.
However, they work quite differently in terms of technique, intention and level of engagement from the practitioner.
In Reiki, the practitioner acts as a channel for the energy, allowing the energy to flow passively to offer deep relaxation, peace and subtle energy shifts. We trust that the energy is going exactly where it needs to go.
Bio-energy healing involves using around 50 different techniques to actively scan the energy field and intentionally direct or release energy in order to balance the whole field. It’s dynamic and specific and shifts can be immediate or noticeable after a few sessions.
Bio-energy therapists are trained to sense where energy is blocked or stagnant; where there may be a deficiency of energy or where there is excess energy. Often, where we feel excess energy there is pain or an energy blockage. We also use channelling, like reiki, in parts of the session.
Reiki is now widely recognised and it’s wonderful that it’s no longer seen as ‘out there’ by many people.
There have been several studies showing the effectiveness of Reiki and energy healing for pain and anxiety in surgery patients; for reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety and for easing cancer-related fatigue. One study even showed bio-energy healing to be more effective than physio in relation to limited shoulder movement.
Did you know that acupuncture, acupressure, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, EFT tapping are all also forms of energy work?
Acupuncture was once rejected and has now been embraced. Reiki has had a similar path. Bio-energy is now on this same journey but I truly believe that it will become more mainstream in the next 5-10 years. Imagine how many people could feel better if they had the chance to experience energy healing? This is my mission! I’ve experienced first hand how it can help and I’m committed to spreading the word as much as I can.
Thank you for helping me on my mission!
Much love, Mel x
