The Origins of Bio-Energy Healing and Bi-Aura

The origins of Bio-Energy Therapy and Bi-Aura.

Energy healing has been part of human history for thousands of years. Wisdom and practices of various forms of energy healing have been passed down through countless generations, both in written and oral traditions, all over the world.  These cultures include those of China, Japan, Tibet, India, Egypt Polynesia, Hawaii, Australia, Europe, Africa, and many native cultures in North and South America. In fact, nearly all ancient cultures practiced some form of healing with energy.

All of the teachings from these cultures reference a universal life force. Despite the different names of this life force energy and the different practices used to manipulate the energy to promote healing, the underlying concept across the globe is remarkably similar: a recognition that an unseen energy flows through us and that maintaining it’s balance is crucial for health.

One of the earliest forms of energy healing can be traced back to Traditional Chinese Medicine over 2000 years ago.   It’s based on the concept of chi / Qi – a vital life force energy believed to flow through specific pathways in the body called meridians.  Their methods, to manipulate and balance this energy, include acupuncture, acupressure and qi gonq. It was believed that if the energy was flowing as it should and was balanced, then the body would heal itself and well-being would be maintained.

In India, Ayurveda, considered the oldest traditional system of medicine, was around at least 3000 years ago.  Ancient religious texts called the Vedas, use the word ‘prana’ to describe this same life force energy.  Ayurvedic practices such as yoga, meditation, special diets, herbal medicine and massage were developed and used to balance the flow of prana and treat the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being of ancient Indian peoples.

In Ancient Egypt, life-force energy was known as “ka” or “ankh”.   Healers used techniques such as the laying on of hands; chanting and visualisation, to restore balance to the energy flow and therefore restoring health. The Ebers papyrus, dating from 1550 BCE, mentions healing by the laying on of hands for pain relief.

In Ancient Greece, life force energy was known as “pneuma” a term coined by Pythagoras. Hippocrates called this ‘the vital force of life’ and noted that healers produced sensations of tingling and heat, followed by the relief of patients’ symptoms. Healers used massage, herbal medicine and breathing exercises to restore the energy flow and therefore balance the body.  This “vital force”, was also written about by Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle.

All these ancient civilisations shared the belief that the body is able to heal itself when energy flows freely and without blockages or obstacles.   And all of their practices – yoga, acupressure, acupuncture, qi gong, laying on of hands, meditation, herbal medicines and specific diets- have been developed to maintain optimum energy flow.

History also tells us that throughout Europe, kings practiced healing. The early Christian church began by recognising what they called faith healing but the later Christian Churches suppressed it through witch trials and burnings and healers were described as evil people in league with the Devil. Laws were passed in several Christian countries forbidding the practice of healing, which was equated with witchcraft. Despite these discouraging attempts to annihilate healing practices, they continued underground.  However, we are still left with the remnants of this attitude.

Bio-energy healing today draws from all of these ancient civilizations and is based on the same principles; that wholeness includes the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of being and when our energy flows unhindered, health is maintained.  And where there is an obstruction of this normal flow of energy, there will be an imbalance which eventually results in a physical, mental or emotional ailment or illness.

Bi-Aura therapy derives from a more recent development of bio-energy therapy, specifically from a method developed in the 1970’s by Serbian Zdenko Domancic.

Zdenzo had watched his grandfather treating people in the community using his hands and the power of intention to manipulate their energy to promote healing.  Over the years, whilst he practiced the techniques learned from his grandfather, he refined and further developed them and this later became known as Bio-Energy Therapy.

Michael D’Alton then brought Bio-Energy Therapy to Ireland and it became known as Bi-Aura Therapy.   D’Alton had trained directly with Zdenzo.  The formation of the Bi-Aura Foundation for Bio-Energy has since trained hundreds of practitioners who continue to use a combination of healing techniques drawn from ancient civilisations and modern understanding of the body’s energy field.   Bi-Aura was introduced to the UK in 1995.

I have been trained by Bi-Aura.  I use specific techniques encompassing both ancient teachings as well as modern understanding of our bio-energy field.  Bio-energy is a very efficient method of clearing energy blockages and restoring your energy flow to normal.  I have personally had very effective results with bio-energy healing and this is why I decided to become a bio-energy therapist.  You can read more about my personal story here.
